Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated National Rail Safety & Compliance Manager to join our team This role could be based out of either our Head Office in Altona, Victoria or our site in Penfield, South Australia. This role would looking after all our sites in Australia. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for coordination of investigations of incidents alongside the Head of Health, Safety, Compliance and Wellness, ensuring SCT meets compliance requirement under any relevant legislation and drive continuous improvement across our operations. This is a dynamic, senior position that will require strong leadership, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of the rail industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and collaborate on investigations into incidents ensuring thorough documentation, analysis, and reporting.
- Collaborate with internal teams, government agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry stakeholders to ensure investigations are comprehensive and outcomes are actionable.
- Develop and implement strategies to identify root causes of incidents and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Review and analyse operational data, safety reports, and industry trends to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.
- Ensure all investigations comply with Australian rail safety standards and relevant industry regulations.
- Provide guidance and training to the broader team on incident prevention, safety best practices, and investigation processes.
- Contribute to the development of safety management systems and risk mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and present reports to senior management, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Rail Safety, Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field required
- At least five years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment required
- Being medically fit and hold or be capable of holding a current rail safety worker CAT 3 medical
- Strong understanding of Australian rail safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex investigations.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with experience managing teams and collaborating across multiple functions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings to various audiences.
- ICAM training
