About the role

We’re looking for a highly skilled commercial professional to join our team. In this key role, you’ll report directly to the Operated Joint Venture Manager and be responsible for providing expert commercial and external interface support to our operated assets.

You’ll be instrumental in managing investments across a diverse portfolio of joint ventures, from early exploration prospects to mature, producing fields. Our team leverages its technical, commercial, and regulatory expertise to unlock and protect value for Australia Pacific LNG. This position is a unique opportunity to directly impact high-value projects, with total contract values often exceeding $100 million.

We currently have two opportunities within the team: one permanent and one 14-month fixed term.

More about the role

- Understand and proactively manage APLNG’s rights and obligations as an Operator, as well as the Joint Venture Partner’s rights and obligations under relevant Agreements.
- Develop and maintain communication with the Operated Assets and JV Partner representatives through both formal and informal channels.
- Work with internal stakeholders to determine APLNG’s commercial position. Then prepare, negotiate and implement commercial agreements with Joint Venture Partners.
- Lead the review and quantitative analysis of proposed projects to determine Joint Venture impact/opportunity.
- Analyse, understand and collaborate on complex issues with internal and external stakeholders to deliver solutions on technical, commercial and logistical issues faced by the relevant Joint Venture.
- Support the resolution of disputes through the relevant Joint Venture dispute processes.
- Provide commercial agreement advice and support to the Operated Assets to help them deliver on commitments.
- Work with the Non-Operated Joint Venture Team to manage common stakeholders.

More about you

- Tertiary qualifications in law, business, commerce, or related disciplines.
- Stakeholder management and influencing skills including dispute resolution.
- Knowledge of Australian oil and gas industry operations including establishment of unincorporated joint ventures.
- Experience in managing material commercial negotiations and resulting transactions.
- Experience in managing commercial contracts or joint venture agreements.
- Demonstrable analytical and communication skills.
- Understanding of economic analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in upstream joint venture management.
- Detailed knowledge of oil & gas JV agreements and related contracts.
- Understanding of, and practical experience with technical matters relating to upstream development projects and operations.
