About the Position:
The Welder (First Class) role is pivotal to Platinum Truck Body & Repair Pty Ltd's operations, focusing on the fabrication and repair of robust truck bodies and trailers to ensure they withstand Australia's toughest conditions. This position involves hands-on welding across custom builds and maintenance projects, contributing directly to the delivery of durable, compliant vehicles that power client logistics. By upholding high standards of quality and precision, the successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing fleet efficiency and supporting the company's commitment to excellence in the transport sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Studying blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements.
Selecting, cleaning, and preparing metal stock.
Cutting marked-out metal stock using hand tools and machine tools.
Shaping and positioning material and components to be welded.
Setting up welding equipment and joining metal parts using techniques such as electric arc welding and gas welding.
Examining welds for strength and other quality requirements.
Repairing broken, cracked, or damaged sections of metal structures.
Performing routine maintenance of welding equipment.
Requirements:
Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
Certificate III in Fabrication or equivalent, or at least 3 years of relevant experience.
Minimum of 3 years' experience in metal fabrication and welding.
Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and arc welding techniques, with strong blueprint reading skills and adherence to Australian welding standards (AS/NZS 1554).
Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to workplace health and safety protocols.
Strong interpersonal skills, including effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced workshop environment.
