About the role
Are you a Registered Nurse ready to take the next step into wound care specialty practice? This transitional Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role offers the ideal opportunity to grow your expertise with dedicated support and structured development.
As part of a staged transition, you’ll work under the guidance of the Wound CNS2 and Integrated Care leadership team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based wound management across Armidale and the surrounding areas. You’ll be supported through clinical supervision, mentoring, and a tailored working plan to ensure you operate within your current scope while developing the skills and confidence to advance to full CNS practice.
You’ll provide assessment, care coordination, and education for patients and staff in wound management, contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives and best practice outcomes. This role suits an experienced Registered Nurse who is passionate about wound care, lifelong learning, and making a tangible difference in the community.
Where you’ll be working
Located in the stunning New England region, Armidale offers the perfect mix of professional challenge and lifestyle balance. With heritage charm, a vibrant university town atmosphere, and access to world-heritage national parks, waterfalls, and cool-climate vineyards, it’s a place where you can grow your career while enjoying a relaxed, nature-filled lifestyle.
You’ll be based at Armidale Community Health Service, part of Hunter New England Health, providing integrated and patient-centred care that supports individuals and families across the region.
About you
You are a motivated Registered Nurse with a strong foundation in clinical practice and a passion for wound care. You bring curiosity, initiative, and a commitment to growing into a specialty nursing role. You have strong communication and teamwork skills, enjoy problem-solving, and thrive in a collaborative, community-based environment.
While previous wound care experience is desirable, this position is open to nurses who have either the qualification but limited experience, or the experience and a willingness to complete the required postgraduate studies — we’ll support you to bridge the gap.
Requirements
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
- Commitment to completing postgraduate qualifications in wound care (if not already held)
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong communication, assessment, and organisational skills
