At Armidale Hospital, we are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) to join our Close Observation Unit (COU) team. As a member of this specialised unit, you will play a vital role in delivering competent nursing education in High Dependency and Intensive Care Nursing, which will in turn allow our team to provide care to patients with critical illness or injury, supporting them and their families through what is considered a very vulnerable time in their lives. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients while working in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
You won't be working alone. You will be supported by the Nurse Unit Manager and the other CNE that this role is job-shared with, as well as the broader team of CNE's within the hospital. Professional growth and training opportunities are not only supported but encouraged. An additional 0.5 maternity leave vacancy is forecasted in March 2026, creating the opportunity to job share either two 0.5 roles or a one full time position.
Key responsibilities:
- Planning and co-ordination of all aspects of clinical teaching and education in the COU
- Contribute to the development of colleagues and identify learning needs
- Assist in ALS training and monitoring of rapid responses within the unit.
- Provide day to day clinical education support and clinical supervision at the point of care
- Provide 1:1 informal education
- Provide support for skill development in clinical procedures, professional development, clinical policy development and an in-service program for COU.
As our new Clinical Nurse Educator, you will:
- Be approachable, empathetic and motivated to help your colleagues in the COU
- Have extensive and recent intensive care nursing experience.
- Enjoy working autonomously.
- Be able to demonstrate sound clinical teaching and communication skills through previous education programme development and co-ordination.
- Show your experience in quality management
- Demonstrate your ability to develop and evaluate outcome-based clinical education
Essential criteria:
- Current Registered Nurse with AHPRA plus relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications and clinical experience.
