About the role

The City of Coffs Harbour is looking for both Level 1 and Level 2 Professional Ocean Lifeguards to join our team for the upcoming summer season.

Professional Ocean Lifeguards Level 1: This position supports the Level 2 Lifeguard in managing beach operations, ensuring flagged areas remain safe and compliant at all times. It contributes to emergency response efforts, public education, and the delivery of high-quality service. The role maintains strong public engagement and professional standards while reporting to senior staff.

Professional Ocean Lifeguards Level 2: This position leads all operational aspects of individual beach locations ensuring safety, compliance, and service excellence while supervising staff and enforcing regulations. It plays a key role in emergency response coordination, stakeholder engagement, and the delivery of public education programs. The role is responsible for maintaining high standards of professionalism, reporting to senior leadership, and actively promoting Coffs Harbour as a premier destination. Successful candidates will have the flexibility to work between Red Rock and Sawtell, and on the weekends. Please refer to the Position Description for a more detailed understanding of the role.

About you

You/'ll need to hold a current Australian Professional Ocean Lifeguard Award (Level 1 or Level 2) or equivalent and/or the ability to perform and pass all competencies of the APOLA Award, a valid First Aid qualification, a Class C driver/'s licence, and a Working with Children Check (if over 18). Applicants for the Level 2 position must also demonstrate previous experience working as a Professional Ocean Lifeguard.

- Professional Ocean Lifeguard Level 1: Hourly rate from around $30.40 + Casual Loading + 12% superannuation

- Professional Ocean Lifeguard Level 2: Hourly rate from around $33.60 + Casual Loading + 12% superannuation
