About the job

This is an exciting new leadership opportunity to join SA Water as the Manager, Technology Group Strategy. In this role, you will lead the development and delivery of SA Water’s long-term technology strategy and digital ambition for 2026 and beyond. You will also drive strategic technology investment planning and development of technology-related inputs into SA Water’s regulatory submissions.

As this is a newly created role, you will have the unique opportunity to build and recruit your own team, shaping the function to meet business needs and continuing SA Water journey to a technology- and intelligence-led utility. Working closely with the CIO, executive team, and Technology Leadership, you will play a pivotal role in aligning technology direction with enterprise goals, ensuring transformation initiatives deliver maximum impact for customers and the community.

About the Person

The successful candidate will be a strategic and collaborative leader with strong communication and influencing skills. They will bring demonstrated experience in developing and executing strategies, alongside the ability to translate complex information into actionable business outcomes.

They will be confident in managing investment planning and business case development, with strong commercial acumen and the ability to partner effectively across the business. Not deeply technical, but tech-savvy with a curious mindset, they will be able to connect business needs with digital opportunities, while creating a vision that drives long-term change.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

- Lead the development and execution of SA Water’s Technology Strategic Plan and long-term digital ambition.
- Drive technology investment planning and contribute to regulatory submissions.
- Partner with senior leaders across the business to align technology with corporate strategy.
- Lead business change and transformation initiatives across the Technology Group.
- Lead a high-performing team to deliver strategic outcomes.
- Establish frameworks for reporting and monitoring progress of strategic initiatives.
- Provide strategic advice, insights, and communication to executives.

Your success in this role will come from:

- Tertiary qualifications in IT, Business Management, Strategy, Law or related discipline or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Deep understanding of technology, strategic planning frameworks and digital ambition setting.
- Extensive demonstrated experience in an equivalent leadership role with a strategic, enabling and/or economic focus.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, including a demonstrated ability to negotiate outcomes and positively influence business relationships.
- Ability to effectively lead team collaboration, culture, and change in a dynamic and complex operating environment.
- Understanding of regulatory planning and reporting requirements relevant to the technology function in a corporate or government context is desirable.
- Practical knowledge of Agile frameworks and tools, and how they can be leveraged to drive strategic outcomes and team capability.
