Responsibilities - Bringing together our commercial trading team and our technical delivery teams. - Leading requirements gathering sessions with traders and other commercial stakeholders to deeply understand their needs, workflows, and pain points. - Translating commercial needs into clear, well-defined user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications understood by the technology team. - Contributing to the product roadmap, ensuring captured requirements align with business strategy and are effectively prioritised, with an opportunity to grow into a leadership role in this area. - Supporting the agile delivery process by clarifying requirements, answering questions from the technical delivery team, encouraging communication and user involvement, and facilitating direct collaboration of tech & users throughout the build phase. - Analysing and validating that the solutions developed meet the original business objectives and user requirements. - Managing stakeholder expectations by ensuring clear and consistent communication between all parties. Responsibilities (continued) - Partnering with the commercial team to define and articulate their technology requirements. - Creating and maintaining a clear and organised backlog of user & functional requirements, primarily through user stories in JIRA. - Ensuring that business context and the "why" behind a requirement are clearly communicated across the commercial and technical delivery teams. - Working closely with the commercial team to understand requirements originating from external customers. - Facilitating workshops and interviews to elicit detailed requirements from users. - Ensuring alignment between the commercial stakeholders and the technical delivery team on the scope and definition of a given feature or project. - Promoting transparent communication across teams, ensuring that expectations, dependencies, and priorities are well understood. - Providing updates to ensure transparency and alignment of requirements and outcomes within projects. Qualifications - Proven experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar role gathering and defining user requirements for software development. - Experience working closely with a commercial or business-focused team, such as traders, sales, or account managers. - Expertise with agile development methodologies and workflow management tools, particularly JIRA. - Experience with roadmapping tools like ProductBoard is highly advantageous. - Exceptional communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with an ability to translate between technical and non-technical audiences. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a talent for breaking down complex problems into manageable components. - Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. - Evidence of being able to successfully navigate competing priorities and manage the expectations of demanding stakeholders. - A technical background or experience working directly with software development. Nice to have - Experience working in the energy, finance, or commodities trading sector. - Business Analysis certifications. Additional information Ultimately we are looking for someone who is a great fit for our company so we encourage you to apply even if you may not meet every requirement in this posting. We value diversity and our environment is supportive, challenging and focused on the consistent delivery of high quality, meaningful work. In return, we’ll offer a competitive salary, flexible working arrangements and opportunities for personal development. We operate a hybrid working model with some time in the Melbourne office.
