The Perkins is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Finance Manager to lead our Finance team and ensure strong financial governance, compliance and support for research activities. This role is based at our state-of-the-art medical research facilities in Nedlands and Murdoch.
About this role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Manager leads a dynamic Finance team and manages the Institute’s finance operations. The role ensures compliance with accounting standards, legislation and grant requirements, while enabling financially informed decision-making across the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Leading and developing the Finance team to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Preparing accurate and timely statutory and management reports and analysis.
- Supporting the CFO in annual budgets, board reporting, and audit preparation.
- Managing research grant reporting, acquittals, and compliance requirements.
- Overseeing payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable, cash flow, investments, and reconciliations.
- Driving continuous improvement in finance systems, processes, and services.
This role would suit an experienced finance professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys combining technical expertise with leadership and problem-solving.
To be successful in this role, you’ll have
- A tertiary qualification in Commerce, Accounting, or Economics (or equivalent).
- CPA or CA membership.
- Proven experience in a senior finance role, exposure to grants is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and foster a high-performance culture.
- Strong financial modelling, analysis, and reporting skills.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Office 365 and finance systems (TechnologyOne desirable).
- A current National Police Certificate.
