About the Opportunity

The primary purpose of the Quality Officer is to contribute tothe maintenance of the Forensic Science quality management system. The purpose of the system is to ensure:

- the confidence of our clients and the community in thereliability of forensic science work undertaken on theirbehalf,
- compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements,
- continuous improvement.

The position contributes to the delivery of a high-qualityforensic examination service to the justice system of SouthAustralia.

About the Business

Forensic Science SA (FSSA) provides a comprehensive, coordinatedrange of services to agencies associated with the justice systemincluding the State Coroner, South Australia Police (SAPOL), theOffice of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and defenceand civil litigants.

We are part of the Attorney General’s Department and theDirector, FSSA reports to the Executive Director, Finance, People& Performance.

Within FSSA there are four scientific/medico-legal operationalareas: Pathology, Chemistry, Biology and Toxicology, each analysingmaterials using a diverse range of scientific equipment andprocesses.

The operational areas are supported by Administration,Information Technology and Projects, Science Support and Quality,who each provide underpinning services in support of theoperational areas.

Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificateclearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicantswill be provided further information if an interview is requested.Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) underany circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing sowill not be recoverable from the AGD.

Employment-related Screening Check required.

A Science Degree in a relevant field is required.
