How you can help make a better world of work

You will lead the vision and strategy for payroll operations, identify process improvements, and optimise workflows to support a growing business. A key focus will be preparing the payroll function for scaling, including leading payroll transformation projects, refining processes, documenting policies and processes, and allocating payroll resources effectively.

You will collaborate with the Finance and People & Experience teams to set clear priorities and amplify the skills and capabilities of others.

As part of this team of amazing humans, you will:

- Manage and oversee the payroll function across multiple jurisdictions (Australia, United States, United Kingdom, Germany and New Zealand).
- Lead a global payroll team with clear, supportive leadership to foster collaboration and performance.
- Drive continuous improvement and growth within the payroll team, providing development opportunities and empowering decision-making and innovation.
- Lead key transformation projects (approximately 30% of time) with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless and compliant execution.
- Own relationships with any outsourced payroll provider, ensuring ongoing accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Deliver reliable payroll information and analysis to support business decision-making and maintain robust internal controls.
- Maintain effective stakeholder management across Finance and the wider business, with clear timelines and proactive communication.
- Ensure payroll compliance with applicable tax and regulatory requirements, including ESOP reporting and global tax obligations.
- Contribute to Finance Team culture, collaborating with peers and aligning goals with broader company objectives.

You are

- Able to communicate complex payroll situations clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Detail-oriented and meticulous, with ability to validate data accuracy using reconciliations and cross-checks.
- A proactive stakeholder manager with a business partner mindset.
- Highly organised, capable of creating structure and clarity in a growing business.
- A problem solver with a practical, proactive approach and the ability to seek input when needed.
- A people manager who enjoys coaching and developing team members.

You have

- 10+ years’ experience in payroll roles with exposure to multi-jurisdiction payrolls.
- Deep familiarity with payroll compliance across APAC, North America, and EMEA; experience managing third-party compliance providers (US & AU must-have; UK, Germany, NZ nice-to-have).
- Experience leading or contributing to payroll transformation projects.
- Experience in hyper-growth environments and scaling payroll functions.
- Ability to self-learn new jurisdiction requirements and communicate changes to stakeholders.
- Track record of driving innovative thinking and implementing new policies and procedures to optimise payroll.
- Proven leadership that motivates, engages, and develops teams in complex environments.
- Expertise in building and maintaining strong internal controls to ensure financial information reliability and protect assets.
