This position sits in the newly formed Social Model of Health Division that brings together a number of established and critical clinical and social services to ensure the Women’s can offer a continuum of care approach depending on the complexity of each woman’s clinical presentation and social circumstance.

The Women’s Alcohol and Drug Service (WADS) is the only state-wide drug and alcohol service providing specialist clinical services and professional support in the care of pregnant women with complex substance use and alcohol dependence. We provide comprehensive support from a multidisciplinary team to advance their health and well-being and the medical needs of their infants. **Your contribution**

The social worker’s role is integral to providing best pregnancy care in collaboration with the WADS medical officers and midwives and to work collaboratively with other drug and alcohol and support services.

Your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:

- To provide psychosocial assessment, casework management, counselling and referral to pregnant women with complex substance use dependence.
- The worker will develop treatment plans and proactively link women and their infants to drug treatment services and ensure women and their infants are provided with practical and therapeutic support
- The social worker will contribute to the development and delivery of the WADS state-wide education program

**About you**

To be successful within this role you will need to have:

- Demonstrated experience in providing evidence based treatment and support to women impacted by complex psychosocial circumstances and substance use
- Ability to develop and deliver training and education to multidisciplinary staff
- 7 years post qualifying experience as a Social Worker and meet eligibility requirements for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Ensure prompt assessment of newly referred patients
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team involved in the care of women and their families

**Influenza Vaccine Requirement**

In line with the Health Services Amendment (Mandatory Vaccination of Healthcare Workers) Act 2020, some health care workers are now required to have their flu vaccination to work in health care. Evidence of vaccination is required.

As this role fits into category A or B of the departments risk ratings, applicants will be required to have been vaccinated against influenza. Evidence of vaccination is required.
