Overview
Do you have a passion for venue, function and event organisation? The Department of Planning Lands and Heritage and Fremantle Prison are looking for an innovative and dynamic, Functions and Events professional.
The Functions and Events Officer is responsible for delivering functions, events, and public programs that position Fremantle Prison as a world-class venue. These include coordinating bookings for school and group tours, managing on-site activities such as photography and filming, and supporting stakeholder led events that enhance the site’s public profile, increase visitation, and strengthen engagement with community and industry groups.
There is one permanent full-time position available for immediate appointment. The process may be used to fill future similar permanent or fixed-term positions that may arise within the Department and across the WA public sector in the next 12 months from the initial date of appointment.
To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate
- Demonstrated experience in the tourism, hospitality, or events industry with ability to plan, coordinate and deliver events tailored to diverse stakeholder needs, ensuring successful outcomes and engagement.
- Good interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to build effective relationships and resolve issues collaboratively.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a customer focused environment.
- Demonstrated time management and organisational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple concurrent activities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate the behaviours within the leadership context as outlined below.
Core leadership behaviours outlined in Leadership Expectations are applicable to this role and should be demonstrated in the context Personal Leadership. The Personal Leadership context is about the work of individuals not yet in traditional leadership positions who make a direct and immediate difference to the agency. The expected behaviours may be assessed during the recruitment and selection process.

The Department will conduct a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check for applicants successful to this recruitment process. To be eligible for a permanent appointment to the Western Australian public sector it is essential that you are an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status in Australia.
