About the Role

We are seeking a hands‑on Trade Assistant to join a dynamic manufacturing team. This role involves supporting truck body manufacturing operations, assisting skilled tradespeople, and contributing to a safe and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate is flexible, proactive, and able to follow instructions while working both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

- Drill holes and rivet Curtainsider and Van bodies

- Lift and hold Colorbond sheets in position while being fixed to truck bodies

- Run lighting wires and fix lights to truck bodies

- Assist Truck Body Builders with tasks within your capability

- Perform tasks with minimal supervision and follow instructions accurately

- Maintain a clean and safe work area

- Adhere to occupational health and safety requirements, including reporting hazards and using PPE

- Participate in manual handling tasks as required

Requirements

- Previous experience in a similar manufacturing or hands‑on role

- Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English

- Basic numeracy skills (weights, measurements, volumes)

- Comfortable using hand tools

- Ability to follow instructions and work well within a team

- Physically fit and able to climb ladders, bend, kneel, lift up to 10kg without assistance, and work in a physically demanding environment

- Positive attitude, adaptable, and able to remain calm under pressure

Work Environment

- Manufacturing/steel/metal fabrication factory setting

- PPE required (safety boots, high‑visibility clothing, hearing and eye protection)

- Team‑oriented environment with forklifts and trucks operating on‑site
