This role is critical in ensuring services are seamlessly integrated, compliant, and delivered to the highest standards of quality and sustainability.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the design process across all phases — from concept to construction — ensuring seamless collaboration with consultants and clients.
- Develop and oversee design briefs, ensuring documentation meets Australian Standards, statutory requirements, and the BCA.
- Drive safety in design and incorporate sustainability outcomes, including ESD objectives.
- Explore innovative materials, methodologies, and engineering solutions while maintaining practicality and cost efficiency.
- Ensure design documentation aligns with buildability, budget, quality, and program requirements.
- Manage consultant deliverables, statutory approvals, and design verification records.
- Partner with subcontractors, perform peer reviews, and ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
- Maintain cost control across design fees, trade budgets, and contingencies.
- Deliver to project milestones while mitigating risks in procurement, resources, safety, and cost.
About you
We’re seeking someone who brings both technical capability and strong leadership qualities.
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of market influences.
- Compliance and quality assurance expertise.
- Ability to plan, prioritise, and deliver within changing demands.
- Proven skills in stakeholder engagement, influencing, and negotiation.
- Leadership qualities to build inclusive, high-performing teams and drive change.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships across the business and industry.
- Strong market knowledge of design consultants and subcontractors.
- Solid knowledge of relevant Building Codes, Design Standards, and contracts.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering or design roles within construction projects.
- Relevant qualifications in Engineering, Architecture, Design, or related discipline.
