About the role

Australian Retirement Trust (ART) is seeking a highly capable and collaborative Senior Software Engineer to join our Enablement team within the Technology business unit. This role is instrumental in designing and delivering high-quality application solutions that support ART’s strategic goals and benefit our members. You’ll lead technical decision-making, mentor peers, and drive continuous improvement across platforms and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and support application solutions aligned with ART’s technical strategy.

- Analyse and implement changes based on business requirements, including documentation and testing.

- Investigate and resolve system incidents and problems, recommending preventative measures.

- Lead code reviews and ensure consistent, high-quality development standards.

- Manage branching, deployment, and release coordination activities.

- Provide expert advice to technical and non-technical stakeholders across platforms.

- Mentor and support team members, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing environment.

- Promote continuous improvement and ensure alignment with ART’s delivery and risk frameworks.

Key Skills and Experience

- Experience with COBOL and SQL, including relational database design and optimisation.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

- Experience in superannuation or similar financial services environments.

- Knowledge of Appian and experience developing within cloud-based platforms.

- Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence for Agile delivery and documentation.

- Proven ability to lead technical decisions and support peer development.

- Expertise in code branching, version control, and deployment pipelines.

- A collaborative team player with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
