We deliver 28 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 380,000 residents.

The role

We are seeking a dedicated and community-focused Regulatory Services Officer to join our Investigations team. In this frontline compliance role, you will work to uphold Council regulations by investigating and enforcing a wide range of local and state legislation. From managing animal control to investigating illegal dumping, your work will directly contribute to the safety, health and amenity of our city.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

- Educate and enforce compliance under the Companion Animals Act

- Investigate illegal dumping, noise complaints, parking breaches, and environmental violations

- Monitor commercial footway use, unauthorised use of parks, and unattended vehicles

- Issue directions and orders, prepare court evidence and attend hearings

- Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to resolve community issues

- Operate under a rotating 7-day roster, including weekends and evenings

- Provide high-level customer service and respond to public complaints and incidents

You will have

- Certificate IV in Regulatory Compliance or equivalent experience in investigations

- A current Class C Driver’s Licence

- Strong knowledge of relevant Acts and Council policies

- Proven experience preparing evidence and appearing in court

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- High resilience, sound judgement, and strong time management skills

- Ability to work well in a high‑pressure, team‑based environment

Desirable

- Experience in animal handling, environmental health/compliance, or local government.

- First Aid certification and multilingual skills are also advantageous.

The salary for this opportunity starts at $82,701 (Grade F, Step 1) plus 12% super.
