The Manager Operations Compliance plays a critical role in ensuring Qantas Airways Limited (QAL) and Express Freighters Australia (EFA) operate in full alignment with the civil aviation regulatory framework. The position is responsible for monitoring all operational approvals and exemptions within the Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) Expositions, as approved by CASA, to support the safe and compliant delivery of both scheduled and non-scheduled high-capacity air transport services. Key activities include managing the addition and removal of aircraft types, coordinating with CASA Regulatory Services to facilitate new aircraft deliveries, and ensuring operational readiness in line with aviation legislation.
A core responsibility of this role is the management of the Exposition for Qantas Airways and Freight, along with the associated Safety Management System (SMS). This involves regulatory notifications, and the preparation of supporting documentation for both significant and non-significant business changes, ensuring compliance and operational continuity.
Responsibilities
- 5-10 years’ experience in an operational or compliance role within a high-capacity air transport operator
- Tertiary Qualification- Under-graduate degree in aviation, business or law
- Ability to lead safety and compliance-related projects within defined timeframes
- Highly developed interpersonal skills; both verbal and written
- Proven skills in managing a compliance program
- Experience in facilitating risk assessments
- An ability to interact in an objective manner with aviation government officials
- Attention to detail with an ability to adapt to change
- Technical proficiency to draft position papers and/or summaries of complex regulatory issues
- Ability to lead safety and compliance-related projects within defined timeframes
