We are currently seeking an Associate Principal (Electrical) to join our leadership team in a regional role focused on delivering and expanding our health, energy and data centre capability across Asia-Pacific. This is a unique opportunity for a senior professional who brings both deep technical expertise and a diverse perspective, and who is ready to influence the next chapter of growth in a high-priority sector.
You will lead complex, high-profile projects across the region while playing a key role in building our pipeline, deepening client relationships, and developing a high-performing, multidisciplinary team. This role offers the chance to make a real impact—technically, commercially, and culturally—helping shape Arup’s presence in the data centre space while working in a business that values innovation, inclusion, and purpose-driven work.
The Opportunity
- Lead high-profile data center projects, managing the design and execution of advanced electrical systems while ensuring alignment with client expectations and industry best practices.
- Strategically develop and implement innovative solutions, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to address the unique needs of data centers, ensuring optimal performance in power distribution, lighting, and communication systems.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaborative problem-solving across multidisciplinary teams.
- Represent Arup in client-facing engagements, offering expert advice and insights that contribute to both project success and long-term relationships.
- Drive the growth and development of Arup’s electrical engineering practice, contributing to business development, project acquisition, and shaping the strategic direction of the firm in the data center space.
- Assume primary responsibility for the overall quality and execution of assigned projects, ensuring adherence to rigorous standards and delivering on time and within budget.
At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share, and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives, and ideas. You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members, and to the clients and communities we serve.
Is this role right for you?
- Recognized tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in Electrical Engineering within a consulting environment, with a proven track record of leadership in large-scale, complex projects; a background in health, energy and/or data centers is advantageous.
- Strong technical expertise in the design, development, and delivery of complex electrical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage client relationships, and contribute to the strategic direction of a business.
- Expertise in industry-standard software and design tools relevant to Electrical Engineering.
