Overview
Karratha Senior High School (SHS) is an independent public school serving Years 7‑12 with about 1,270 students. The school offers strong programs in music, drama, art, sport and outdoor education, and has state‑of‑the‑art facilities. SHS holds a strong local reputation for producing responsible, engaged, compassionate young people who graduate to become contributing members of society.
The Role
The successful applicant will provide daily management and leadership of the Mathematics Learning Area, working with the Principal and Executive Team to promote and enact the school’s vision. Key responsibilities include:
- Articulate a clear vision for the Mathematics team aligned with the Whole School Instructional Model, Positive Behaviour Support and trauma‑informed practices.
- Lead the team in data analysis and application (NAPLAN, OLNA, other relevant data) to inform planning, instruction and assessment.
- Develop and support staff through mentoring, clear feedback, and ongoing professional development.
- Collaborate closely with students, staff and the wider community to improve teaching practice and student outcomes.
- Maintain effective communication and strong relationships with all stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered teacher with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
- Valid Working With Children Check.
- Strong data literacy skills and experience in educational leadership.
- Excellent interpersonal and public‑relations skills with a proven ability to establish effective working relationships.
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.
- Experience leading instructional improvement and professional learning in a diverse setting.

Eligibility

- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s screening unit.
