Position Information

Cabramatta High School is a comprehensive, coeducational high school located in South West Sydney. The school has a total student population of over 1550 students and includes an Intensive English Centre and Support Unit. 96% of students are from a language background other than English, with fifty-five cultural groups represented in the school. The school has a strong focus on academic excellence, collaborative practice, holistic education, wellbeing programs, innovative professional learning and community partnerships. The school has a collegial staff culture, and the executive team collectively leads whole school projects. The school and its community have a strong culture of high expectations in all learning areas.

The school has an innovative, strategic and data-informed approach to literacy. The Head Teacher Teaching and Learning (Literacy and Student Engagement) leads the development and implementation of whole school literacy initiatives in collaboration with the Literacy Steering Committee. The Head Teacher Teaching and Learning manages the literacy faculty and the teaching of explicit literacy lessons for students in Years 7 - 10.

Specific Selection Criteria

- Demonstrated ability to collaboratively lead, implement and evaluate whole school literacy strategies and programs for a diverse range of learners, including EAL/D students.

- Demonstrated expertise in data analysis and assessment evaluation to inform school strategic directions and initiatives.

- Proven ability to design and deliver high-impact professional learning to build the capacity, knowledge and skills of staff.

- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for strengthening links with external agencies as well as parents and the school community to design and deliver student engagement programs to meet the needs of students.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department/'s Aboriginal education policy
