The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly skilledand experienced senior associate or special counsel to join ourgeneral insurance team on a full-time basis.

This role will provide theopportunity to work across a diverse range of legally challengingmatters focussing on professional indemnity, construction andgeneral liability. The work is high quality working for one of theleading insurance partners in NSW with clients based bothdomestically (Government and private sector) and internationally.

Your main responsibilities will include:

- Oversee and manage a diversecaseload of professional indemnity and general liability claims,ensuring exceptional client representation and successfuloutcomes. There will be a focus on matters involving insurancepolicy advice and coverage disputes. Some of the matters includelarge catastrophic losses and class actions.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, andsupervision to junior lawyers, assisting in their professionalgrowth and development.
- Represent clients in negotiations,mediations, and court proceedings with expertise and confidence.
- Offer ongoing legal advice andsupport to clients throughout the entire litigation process.

The successful candidate will beexperienced in and enjoy working autonomously on matters whilesupervising and mentoring junior lawyers. Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role youwill have:

- A Bachelor of Laws or equivalentand a current New South Wales practising certificate.
- Minimum 5 years' post admission andexperience in liability or professional indemnity, with experiencein insurance policy advice and coverage disputes.
- Strong command of Australian tortlaw, civil procedure, and relevant legislation.
- Proven ability to effectivelymentor and supervise junior lawyers, fostering their growth and success.
- Exceptional research, analytical,and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbalcommunication abilities.
- A commercial approach and abilityto articulate and negotiate effectively.
