As a Lead Principal – Mining Equipment Procurement, you will lead the strategic sourcing and category management of mining equipment across the organisation, driving cost efficiencies, innovation and risk mitigation. Ensure optimal supplier performance, align procurement with operational needs, mentor a direct report, and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to deliver value and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities may include:

- Develop and implement category strategies, conduct market analysis and lead sourcing initiatives including tenders, negotiations, and contract finalisation.

- Oversee key suppliers, drive continuous improvement and innovation

- Manage key OEM agreements, including KPI reporting, quarterly reviews, dispute resolution

- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, finance, and HSE teams to align procurement with business needs

- Provide guidance and lead a team member to ensure effective management of project equipment hire and acquisitions.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

- Education & Experience: A Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or related field is highly regarded.

- 7+ years’ experience in HME category development with extensive strategic sourcing experience within the mining or construction industries.

- Core Skills: Strong knowledge and subject matter expertise in mining equipment markets and OEM landscape. Proven experience in leading and empowering people to deliver strong outcomes.

- Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving abilities, combined with outstanding negotiation skills and a strong understanding of mining/construction industry standards. Proficiency in systems like JD Edwards and strong technical capabilities are essential, alongside excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers.

- The ability to adapt to challenges, work cohesively with internal and external stakeholders, and manage diverse priorities will be key to success in this role.
