The closing date is 31 October 2025.

Northamptonshire Integrated Sexual Health and HIV Service (NISHH) requires a full‑time Clinical Support Worker/Extended Receptionist/Administrator to join our team to provide and maintain high standards of patient care through ensuring that clinics run efficiently on a day‑to‑day basis.

The post holder will provide highly flexible cross‑over of clinical and administrative functions between the reception and the clinical areas within NISHH. This is to ensure that the clinics run smoothly and with maximum efficiency throughout the day.

This post has both clinical and clerical responsibility. The proportion of each will vary on a day‑to‑day basis and can be discussed in more detail during the interview and at appointment. The role will therefore support both the Hub Administrator and the Hub Senior Nurse who will liaise throughout the day, identifying the areas of need.

The post holder will have day‑to‑day responsibility to the Senior Hub Nurse supported by the Senior Hub Administrator. Overall responsibility to the Clinical Lead of NISHH and accountability to the Service Manager for Specialist Ambulatory.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate for this post should be a committed team member, a good communicator and a non‑judgemental, discreet individual. This role includes both clinical and administrative responsibilities which will include preparing and undertaking routine tests for patients, preparing and stocking clinical rooms, chaperoning doctors and nurses during examination of patients, booking patient appointments, registering new patients on the clinical system, and undertaking telephone triage. The ability to move between clinical and administrative functions several times during the working day is essential.

Training in microscopy and phlebotomy would be an advantage; however training for this post will be provided if necessary. Shift patterns may vary from week to week and may include evening work. Ability to travel between various Trust locations is essential.

Excellent interpersonal skills, experience of working on computer systems, an accomplished telephone manner and good communication skills are essential to the role. A thorough understanding of confidentiality within a sexual health service must be demonstrated. NHS experience is desired.

Working pattern to be confirmed but the position is required to cover clinics within NISHH that are provided Monday–Saturday between hours of 7.45am and 8pm. The post will be based at Northampton General Hospital. The ability to travel to other locations where our clinics are held may be required.
