Security Clearance Required for this role:

- Must have a Current NV1 and PV cleared resources with current OSA or previously help OSA.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll play a key role in managing and optimising VMware environments that underpin vital digital platforms and vessel systems used by Defence and related agencies.

What you’ll do

In this hands‑on role, you will:

- Design, manage, and support VMware server and desktop (Horizon) virtual environments across secure networks (ASN, CSN, and ABF vessels).

- Lead system upgrades, patching, and performance improvements to ensure continuous availability and compliance.

- Configure ICT hardware and integrate VMware tools to enhance automation and user experience.

- Develop and maintain system documentation, SOPs, risk and design artefacts, and post‑incident reports.

- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to APS and contractor teams.

- Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver secure, resilient, and scalable virtualisation solutions.

What you’ll bring

- Extensive hands‑on experience with VMware technologies (vSphere, ESXi, Horizon, vCenter, NSX).

- Proven ability to design, review, and implement improvements across complex VMware environments.

- Strong understanding of availability management, systems design, and infrastructure operations (aligned to SFIA Level 4–5).

- Experience in problem management, incident resolution, and continuous improvement practices.

- Demonstrated ability to work within classified or secure government networks.

- Excellent documentation and stakeholder communication skills.

- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent certification (mandatory).

Highly desirable

- Previous experience within Home Affairs, DIBP, or ACBPS.

- Demonstrated success supporting federal government or defence programs.

- Familiarity with security impact assessments, disaster recovery, and risk management frameworks.
