The Role

As a Clinical Psychologist, you will deliver evidence based psychological services to adolescents and young adults with cancer, and their support networks. You will work closely with the AYA multidisciplinary team to provide high quality care. Your key responsibilities will be to:

- Conduct psychological assessments and interventions for AYA patients

- Collaborate with health care professionals across inpatient and outpatient setting

- Provide education and support to families, carers, and health professionals

- Participate in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives

Where You'll be Working

The Sydney Youth Cancer Service provides specialist cancer care to young adults aged 15 - 25 years. As part of an established AYA multidisciplinary team, you will support young adults with cancer at Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney Children's Hospital at Randwick.

Selection Criteria

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.

- Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, with Endorsement in Clinical Psychology (or eligibility to progress towards same), along with a minimum two‑year full‑time equivalent Master or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology.

- Demonstrated knowledge experience in the provision of evidence‑based psychological assessment, intervention and evaluation of clinical outcomes for a range of common psychological disorders and concerns experienced by young adults with complex health issues. Experience in an oncology setting is preferred but not essential.

- Capacity to design and implement short and medium term treatment protocols for young adults presenting with psychological difficulties in the context of comorbid complex health issues.

- Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication to suit the target audience including the ability to communicate in a sensitive and professional manner with patients, family members/carers, and staff.

- Capacity to provide support and education to other health professionals.

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals, improve patient care and outcomes.

- Demonstrated experience in and commitment to quality improvement and research
