Your Key Responsibilities:
As an Accountant, you will play a key role in managing our financial activities, ensuring that our records are accurate and up to date. Your responsibilities will include:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports such as Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, and cost accounting reports for management and the Board.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the development of budgeting processes and accounting policies, helping to align financial goals with business objectives.
- Accounts Receivable & Payable: Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable using Xero or MYOB or similar, ensuring all transactions are processed efficiently.
- Month-End Activities: Record month-end journals, accruals, and prepayments to ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Bank Reconciliations: Conduct bank and credit card reconciliations to verify financial data and resolve discrepancies.
- Asset & Expense Management: Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and Prepaid Expenses accounts, ensuring accurate tracking of assets and liabilities.
- Cash Flow & Risk Monitoring: Monitor cash flow and provide insights to help manage financial risks and ensure the business remains financially healthy.
- Tax Compliance: Lodge BAS, IAS, Payroll Tax, and Superannuation returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax regulations.
- Management Reporting: Produce weekly, monthly, quarterly, and half-yearly reports, providing management with clear insights into the business's financial performance.
- Audit Support: Prepare audit documentation and assist with financial investigations as needed.
- Cost Control: Support management by identifying opportunities to reduce costs, improve operational efficiency, and streamline financial processes.
- GST & STP: Prepare and submit monthly GST reports to the ATO via Single Touch Payroll (STP).
- Payroll Compliance: Ensure accurate payroll data, ensuring compliance with award rates and legislative changes, and managing employee superannuation.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with management to draft and implement new accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and ensure compliance.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 1-2 years of experience in an accounting role.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero or MYOB or similar.
- Strong understanding of tax compliance, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a keen eye for process improvement.
