Are you an experienced payroll professional looking for a flexible part‑time role?

Robert Walters is seeking a detail‑oriented and proactive Payroll Administrator to join our team. This is a permanent position working 3 days per week, with 2 of these days based in our office. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of payroll across both New Zealand and Australia.

About the Role

As a Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible for managing end‑to‑end payroll processes. You’ll ensure compliance with regional legislation, maintain accurate records, and provide exceptional support to employees regarding payroll queries. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative and supportive team while enjoying the flexibility of part‑time hours.

Key Responsibilities

- Process monthly end‑to‑end payroll across New Zealand and Australia

- Ensure compliance with ANZ employment laws, tax regulations, and company policies

- Maintain up‑to‑date employee records, including deductions and benefits

- Respond promptly to employee leave and payroll queries and provide clear explanations when needed

- Conduct weekly leave audits by cross‑referencing data between reporting systems to identify and resolve discrepancies in leave submissions

- Prepare and reconcile payroll end‑of‑pay reports for the Finance Team

- Perform payroll end‑of‑financial year function, carry out ad hoc reporting requests and assist with audits as required

- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll data

About You

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and has a strong eye for detail. You’ll have excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines effectively. A passion for delivering high‑quality work and providing outstanding service to employees is essential.

Key Requirements

- Minimum 2 years of proven experience in payroll administration, ideally within New Zealand

- Strong knowledge of ANZ payroll legislation, tax requirements, and compliance standards

- Proficiency in payroll systems, experience with Micropay and ESS is advantageous

- Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail

- Intermediate Excel skills

- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly

- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams
