TheRole
The Indigenous Liaison Officer (ILO)will provide advice and guidance to support the planning,development and implementation of policies, strategies and programsto attract and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanderstudents to CGS. You will engage with Aboriginal and Torres StraitIslander communities to promote CGS and its Vision, Mission andValues.
This is a key role that liaisesbetween students and teachers to provide CGS indigenous studentswith tailored social/emotional support to enable them to succeed intheir academic programs and will advise CGS on matters of culturalprotocol to ensure students are able toflourish.
This is a part-time (11.5 hours over3-4 days a week), 24-month fixed term opportunity based at ourCaulfield Campus.
KeyDuties
- Work with families, staff,students and CGS executive and leadership teams to facilitatethe best outcomes for all students, families andstakeholders
- Provide guidance to support theplanning, development and implementation of policies,strategies and programs
- Maintain a strong cultural focusthat extends to advice and action on broad issues, includingthe enrichment of cultural awareness withinCGS
- Leverage relationships withinAboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and CGS tosupport students
- Model and live the CaulfieldGrammar School values andbehaviours.
Skills andExperience
- Demonstrated knowledge andunderstanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islandercommunities, needs andrelationships
- Comprehensive understanding ofissues affecting relationships for Aboriginal and Torres StraitIslander communities and demonstrated ability to effectivelycommunicate this internally to engage stakeholders
- Experience working withAboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Experience or a background inEducation with a willingness to participate in and leadprofessional developmentactivities
- Excellent organisational andcommunication (written and verbal) skills to communicate andliaise effectively with students, parents, and all schoolstaff
- A current Employment WWCC orwillingness to obtain
