Engagement Officer

The Australian Electoral Commission is seeking an Engagement Officer to join their team in the Indigenous Electoral Participation Program.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work with community-level partners and contribute to making Australian elections more accessible for culturally diverse people.
- To support the Engagement Office in engaging with partners who help realise maximum benefits for Indigenous Australians.
- To represent and explain agency views in various forums, including travel to remote localities.
- To collaborate and maintain relationships both internally and externally.
This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work harmoniously within a team to achieve positive results.
The successful candidate will have a commitment to working with Indigenous communities and a willingness to learn about legislation and programs related to Indigenous electoral participation.
Key Requirements:- An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to contribute to activities.
- Relevant qualifications in Indigenous studies or community engagement/education.
