The Role
The duties of an EL 2 Work Health and Safety Director occupation in Defence include the following (note: not all duties are required to be performed during a 12 month performance cycle):

- Accountable for providing leadership and direction to ensure a high-level of integration and consistency across the Defence work health and safety function.
- Accountable for managing and leading a team, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people.
- Accountable for managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes.
- Advise on the application of control measures to reduce the level of risk to Defence workers.
- Advise on the performance of Defence work health and safety management systems and recommend corrective actions where required.
- Represent Defence work health and safety network at internal and external forums.
- Engage and influence Defence senior leadership and provide the key link between senior executives and Defence workers.
- Analyse and design safety management systems in accordance with the legislation, Defence policies and procedures.
- Establish sustainable work health and safety strategies and policies that extend to very complex issues, which may not have established precedents or guidelines.
- Assess trends in work health and safety performance to identify high risk areas and design remediation strategies.

Remuneration and Location
$139,681 - $167,659 + up to 15.4% Superannuation, Canberra - ACT
