Seqwater is the Queensland Government Bulk Water Supply Authority, responsible for delivering safe, secure and cost-effective bulk water supply for 3.2 million people across Southeast Queensland. About your opportunity
This newly created leadership role offers a unique opportunity to help shape Seqwater’s future water quality strategy. Lead a team of specialists delivering expert advice on drinking and recycled water, including the Gold Coast Desalination Plant and Western Corridor Recycled Water Scheme. Represent Seqwater with regulators and national bodies & maintain regulatory approvals.
This role is responsible for:
- Lead a team of water quality professionals, fostering innovation, accountability, and a positive team culture
- Oversee and enhance Seqwater’s drinking and recycled water quality management systems and regulatory plans
- Ensure compliance with water quality legislation and alignment with organisational risk and strategic goals
- Develop and improve validation plans, standards, and supporting programs for drinking water quality
- Provide expert advice on public health, compliance, and emerging water quality trends and research
- Represent Seqwater in regional, national, and international water quality collaborations and initiatives
- Contribute to strategic policy development and implementation of Seqwater’s water quality strategy
- Actively participate in the water quality leadership team and broader organisational leadership
- Promote and uphold Seqwater’s safety, quality, and environmental standards and Code of Conduct

About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in Chemical, Microbiological, or Environmental Science/Engineering
- Expert knowledge of:
- Australian & QLD Drinking Water and Recycled Water Guidelines
- HACCP Codex, ISO 22000, and ISO 9001 standards
- Extensive experience in water, beverage, or food quality management
- Proven leadership of technical teams
- Strong understanding of incident response and investigation
- Skilled in providing high-level scientific advice to regulators and executives
- Current unrestricted Class C driver’s licence
- Alignment with Seqwater’s values
Desirable
- Experience with desalination and recycled water treatment
- Exemplar Global Lead Auditor (Water Quality or Food Safety)
- Ability to lead geographically dispersed teams in flexible environments
- Excellent communication, consultation, and negotiation skills
- Strong time management and independent reporting capabilities
- Results-driven with a positive, values-aligned outlook
This position has a salary range of $149,648.11 - $162,324.62 plus 12.75% superannuation and is full-time, permanent.
