Job Description
The sensational Yuin Theatre at the Bay Pavilions incorporates a state-of-the-art 350-seat, multifunctional performance theatre, comprehensive back of house facilities, fully licensed bar, community rooms and visual art gallery.
The Head of Theatre, Arts & Events role will manage all aspects of theatre operations including marketing, strategic budget forecasting, booking season shows, liaising with promoters for touring performances and reporting key data to the Arts and Leisure Manager on a weekly basis.
This is a one of a kind opportunity on the South Coast for a full-time theatre manager role. As the Bay Pavilions is a modern multi-functional facility, you’ll be working alongside managers of aquatics, gym/leisure, customer experience and swim school, a diverse and high performing team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Art and theatre business development and management
- Develop and implement a diverse calendar of arts and theatre events and programs.
- Actively seek performers, production companies and other facility hirers to deliver quality events at the Arts Pavilion.
- Theatrical production and technical development.
- Research, plan and deliver exhibitions, programs and activities which reflect best practice in the arts industry, provide an engaging visitor experience, increase audience attendance, and stimulate the local arts community.
- Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships which enhance support of the Bay Pavilions.
- Assist the Marketing Coordinator in the development and delivery of marketing and advertising strategies for the Arts Pavilion and Food and Beverage services.
- Recruitment, supervision and performance management of all theatre and arts staff.
- Management of the Arts Pavilion, Gallery and Cafe, including all programs, exhibitions, products and events.
- Manage all areas within agreed annual budgets.
2. Event management and sales
- Maximise box office sales for the Arts Pavilion.
- Implement a customer-centric culture where customers feel valued and important.
- Oversee and implement a structured events calendar and sales strategy.
- Manage and train staff to generate leads, build rapport, overcome objections and close sales.
- Implement, oversee, and provide summary reports on sales campaigns.
3. Record keeping and reporting
- Maintain the gallery collection records related to registration, insurance, loans, research inquiries and copyright of all artwork.
- Maintain the storage of the gallery collection (and items under the Gallery’s care)
- Prepare written material including monthly activity reports, acquisition proposals, extended labels, educational panels, catalogues and media releases.
4. Service Quality
- Oversight, management and constant improvement of service promise and customer charter.
- Delivery of customer experience and sales training to all staff.
5. Member of the Eurobodalla Leadership Team

- At all times act in the best interests of Aligned Leisure and Eurobodalla Shire Council.
6. Outstanding service delivery to all customers and stakeholders

Desired Skills and Experience
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience in arts, theatre and/or gallery management (preferred but not essential)
- Experience in theatre technical operations such as the operation of lighting, sound and stage equipment (preferred, but not essential)
- Experience in managing ateam is desired
- Experience in delivering exceptional customer service
- Marketing and/or communications experience would be an advantage but not a necessity
- The position will be subject to relevant pre-employment checks and must maintain a current working with children check
- The successful applicant must hold or be willing to attain first aid and CPR qualifications
