**Position Information**:
Hunter School of the Performing Arts is the only fully selective performing arts public school in NSW. Around 1150 students are enrolled across Years 3-12, including 48 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students and 180 students in Years 3 to 6. Students from across the Hunter, Central Coast and Port Stephens are enrolled through an audition process. Students at the school are supported by a staff of 80 teachers and 20 support and administrative officers.

We have high expectations of academic success in all areas and cater for a wide range of student abilities, with a strong emphasis on the performing arts and developing high potential of students in dance, music and drama. The key initiatives in the school focus on quality teaching and learning and student wellbeing and values education.

Extra-curricular activities are provided through extensive experiences and opportunities in drama, dance, and music, including ensembles, extension and immersion programs in the performing arts, performing arts integration, theatre and film. Sporting events and representation also enable our students to excel through a range of different experiences.

In supporting the learning of our students, staff and community we have fostered strong partnerships with the Mulloobinbah AECG and links with The University of Newcastle, the National Institute of Dramatic Art, Conservatorium of Music, Civic Theatre Newcastle and local, regional, state, national and international of performing arts providers.

**Selection Criteria**:
Approval to teach Primary.

Demonstrated capacity to design and deliver explicit, differentiated and integrated teaching and learning programs that cater for performing arts students.

Proven ability to improve learning outcomes in Literacy and Numeracy.

Skills and experience in coordinating opportunities and delivering the NSW Creative Arts syllabus to high potential students.

Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills that support student wellbeing.

Capacity to work collaboratively with students, staff, parents and the wider community.

Capacity to implement whole school programs including drama, music and dance.
