About the Division The Chief Information Officer Division (CIO Division) drives the digital agenda for the department. It leads delivery of digital offerings and transformation, and partners with business areas to: - Realise the digital policy objectives of the department - Define the department’s digital landscape - Co-design digital experiences to simplify innovation, collaboration and communication - Drive ICT services’ innovation and transformation About the Branch The ICT Operations Branch manages and deploys ICT services to support the organisation. It includes teams that support: - ICT networks and infrastructure - Cloud platforms and services - On-premises and Hybrid Cloud platforms - End-user platforms and services - End users – ICT Support, Asset Management, Executive Support - ICT-enabled enterprise projects The End User Services team provides key services to staff and maintains technologies that enable the department to operate. About the Section The End User Services section delivers high-quality, user-centred digital services that provide stability, security and reliability for staff and stakeholders. It manages the standard operating environment (SOE), corporate device management, desktop packaging (including Microsoft 365 Apps), collaboration tools and remote access services. Our ideal candidate As an Endpoint & Messaging Engineer you will contribute your skills in a multi-disciplinary team focused on managing and enhancing end-user enabling technologies, including Microsoft Windows SOE, device management, and enterprise collaboration tools. You will work with team members to organise and prioritise work, maintain key business relationships, and demonstrate strong communication and teamwork aligned with APS6 expectations in the Integrated Leadership System (ILS). - Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication. - Commitment to development as part of a team, including documentation and coaching/training. - Strong problem-solving or analytical skills with a focus on resolution. - Dedication to quality assurance and continual improvement. - Ability to work under broad supervision with independence and in a geographically-disperse team. What you will do Your key responsibilities may include: - Design, development, maintenance and Level 3 support for the Standard Operating Environment (SOE), including desktop productivity software and corporate device configurations (desktop and mobile) - Enterprise messaging and collaboration environment - Enterprise remote access solutions (virtual desktop and VPN) - Packaging and deployment of applications - Management of automated patching processes - Providing expert technical advice across supported platforms and services, including ICT governance and management forums Technologies include: - Microsoft Windows and related environment management, monitoring and automation tools - Microsoft Exchange (Server and Online) and Microsoft Teams - Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise - Microsoft Intune (device management and configuration) and Group Policy - Automation with Microsoft PowerShell Note. End User Services is keen to hear from candidates with strong skills in Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Intune, and with enterprise ICT automation experience. Eligibility To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens. Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level. Notes The department offers flexible work opportunities. The majority of the team is based in the ACT, but End User Services is open to hearing from strong candidates in other locations. This role includes participation in a rotating roster for on-call support outside business hours. A merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within 18 months from the date the vacancy was first advertised in the Gazette.
