Overview
Myer is looking for a Category Manager to join the Entertainment business and drive the execution of the Myer merchandise strategy. The Entertainment category is a key area of strategic importance for Myer and we are looking for someone to provide leadership and direction around all aspects of the business including range sign off, sourcing, inventory, supplier performance and financial outcomes. Strong proven leadership skills are essential, as you will lead a large team to ensure that the business strategy is delivered.

About the role:
- Lead team in sourcing, range builds & negotiations
- Build a strategy to secure national and international brands
- Ensuring the seasonal range is well balanced and aligned to the business plan
- Ensuring the supplier and product reference data is maintained in the team
- Developing and managing strategies for Pricing/Margins and Competitors
- Developing Strategies for National Brand Vendors
- Managing financial performance including post-season analysis and optimising stock levels
- Determining regular and promotion price strategies for the business
- Executing business plans
- Accountability for financial parameters and targets to ensure they are achieved
- Providing leadership and direction to the Buying Team
- Leading by example and enhancing team performance
- Working with other functions to ensure effective delivery of merchandise strategy
About you
- Previous senior leadership experience in retail and solid knowledge of local and international markets and trends is essential to succeed in this role
- Ability to think in a long-term strategic manner and translate the overall merchandise strategy into the category
- Demonstrated understanding of retail models and the application of organisational requirements
- Ability to manage and translate retail financial factors, demonstrated management of costs, profits and financial factors
- Demonstrated experience in developing business/merchandise plans and long term strategic plan for category including market share, product specific strategies and supplier strategies
- Demonstrated leadership skills that support the approach of building team capability and positive culture
- Demonstrated vision and effective communication at all levels
- Business acumen – initiative, decision making skills, problem solving, influencing and able to analyse reports in order to improve business decisions
- Ability to manage, implement and develop systems and processes effectively
