Overview

Simulator Support Officer – Fixed Term Full Time, 2 year contract. Located at Perth airport, WA. Shifts typically 08:00am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday. Salary: EA classification - Simulator Support Officer 1.

Responsibilities

- Deliver simulation exercises by performing the role of a simulator pilot and simulator air traffic control, and coordinate as required with other agencies.
- Contribute to the design, development, and delivery of innovative and high-quality competency-based training solutions to ensure effective and efficient training outcomes for operational air traffic control.
- Ensure compliance with safety, business, and regulatory requirements.

Training is a key enabler for ongoing workforce capability development in air traffic services and presents opportunities for innovation and new technologies. The team operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and collaborates to influence and contribute to training programs and project initiatives. You will join a group of highly engaged, collaborative, and initiative-taking individuals focused on training air traffic controllers.

This is a full-time two-year contract position.

Qualifications and competencies

- Must hold and maintain ICAO English Language Proficiency at level 6 or its equivalent.
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to assess and act on varied information accurately.
- Proven ability to work harmoniously and communicate effectively within a small team.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and workloads.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to embrace new technologies.
- Ability to interpret and act on information/data according to procedures and guidelines.
- Competence in performing mental arithmetic accurately and expediently.
- Ability to scan, assess, evaluate, analyse and act on information from multiple sources.
- Ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card.

Desirable Skills, Experience and Qualifications

- Experience delivering theoretical and hands-on training one-on-one or in groups.
- Understanding of aircraft performance and Air Traffic procedures.
- Familiarity with Radio Telephony phraseology and the phonetic alphabet.
- Prior experience or familiarity with Air Traffic Control operations.
- Possession of or pursuit towards aviation qualifications (highly desirable).
