About CareSouth

CareSouth is a community‑focused organisation dedicated to supporting children, young people, families, and individuals. Our vision is to embrace communities with kindness and humility to build a better future. We offer a range of services including early intervention, foster care, NDIS support, and youth services, all aimed at fostering independence and building better futures.

CareSouth offices are based across regional NSW, including in the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, Goulburn, Queanbeyan, Wagga Wagga, Griffith, Deniliquin, Blaney and Orange.

Your Role

As the House Manager (Team Leader) you will be responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of a therapeutic residential care home for children and young people in Out‑of‑Home Care (OOHC). In this leadership role, you will manage and support a team of Therapeutic Support Workers, working directly with children and young people who have experienced complex trauma and may live with a disability.

You will collaborate closely with clinical teams to deliver safe, structured, and nurturing care in line with CareSouth’s Therapeutic Care model. This is a frontline leadership position that requires strong emotional intelligence, resilience, and a deep commitment to creating meaningful and lasting change in the lives of vulnerable children and young people.

What is an Interim Care Model (ICM)?

Interim Care Models (ICMs) are a care placement type under the Permanency Support Program (PSP), developed by the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) for children and young people in OOHC. The model of care provides children and young people aged 9‑14 years old who have low and medium needs with support that is as close to a home‑like environment as possible. The model is designed as a short‑term support, while more suitable placements such as kinship, foster care, or other permanency goals are identified.

What you need to be successful in your role

- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work/Welfare, Social Sciences or equivalent.

- Strong understanding of child protection frameworks, and trauma‑informed care.

- Strong administration, risk management, and compliance capability.

- Demonstrated ability to coach staff, manage complex behaviours, and build trusting relationships with children and young people.

What we can offer you

We believe in taking care of our team. Along with above Award rates, we offer the below benefits to help you feel supported, stay healthy, and grow in your career:

- Health Insurance Discount: Enjoy a generous discount on retail health insurance.

- Fitness Passport Gym Membership: Stay active and energised with discounted gym memberships for you and your family.
