We are recruiting for an experienced and compassionate Return to Work (RTW) Coordinator to join our team on a part-time basis (2-3 days per week). In this vital role, you will play a key part in guiding injured employees through their recovery-at-work journey, while ensuring West HQ meets its responsibilities under NSW workers compensation legislation.

Key duties and responsibilities

- Serve as the first point of contact for all workplace injuries requiring workers compensation.
- Lodge and manage workers compensation claims and injury notifications in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Work closely with injured employees, managers, treating health practitioners, insurers, brokers, and rehabilitation providers.
- Develop, implement, and monitor tailored recovery-at-work (RAW) plans that support both employee needs and operational requirements.
- Ensure accurate and confidential case management records are maintained in line with legal and company policies.
- Liaise with the insurer to facilitate timely approvals for medical expenses, treatments, and wage support.
- Facilitate early and safe recovery at work through the provision of light duties, modified duties, alternative roles across different departments, adjusted hours or rosters, graduated return-to-work programs.
- Establish strong relationships with business and external stakeholders such as treating doctors and allied health professionals, Injury Management Advisors, rehabilitation providers, workers compensation insurer and insurance broker.
- Review and confirm pre-injury average weekly earnings (PIAWE) for claim lodgement and ongoing wage compensation.
- Work with Payroll to ensure accurate processing of compensation payments, including top-ups, partial work hours, and reconciliation of hours worked vs. pre-injury benchmarks.
- Monitor recovery-at-work hours and ensure alignment with approved medical capacity.

To be successful in this role, you must be a highly capable, self-motivated professional with the expertise and confidence to hit the ground running. You will need to demonstrate sound judgement, initiative, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.

You will also require

- Formal qualifications in Work Health and Safety (preferred).
- Current certification in Return to Work Coordination (NSW SIRA-accredited training).
- Demonstrated experience in a Return to Work Coordinator or Injury Management role (3+ years preferred).
- Demonstrated experience in managing claims end-to-end, lodging and monitoring claims, liaising with insurers, brokers, rehabilitation providers.
- In-depth knowledge of NSW workers compensation legislation, return-to-work principles, and suitable duties programs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support injured workers and advise internal stakeholders.
- An empathetic and practical approach to injury management and employee support.
- The ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously, ensuring timely actions and updates.
- Experience developing and monitoring customised RAW plans that align with medical restrictions and business operations.
- Proficiency in managing workers compensation claims and associated administrative processes.
- Experience in hospitality, retail, or other fast-paced, customer-facing environments.
- High level of accuracy in record keeping, data entry, and compliance reporting.
- First Aid and CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- NSW Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
