TheOOHC Therapeutic Support Contact Worker willbeworking directly with children and young people, in both general foster care and kinship care; supervising family time with birth families.

Job Description

In this role you will:

- Support, and supervise contact between children and young people and their birth families and/ or significant others
- Support families during the supervised contacts including prompting and modelling parenting skills
- Accurately and reporting on visits with honesty and integrity in a timely manner in line with policies and procedures
- Transport children and young people and their carers to appointments
- Ensure all records/case notes are accurate and maintained in line with service, legislative, and Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG) requirements, including the electronic casework system.
- Record and discuss any concerns around child safety with a Caseworker and/or the TeamLeader
- Make “risk of significant harm’ reports to the Community Services Helpline when deemed necessary in consultation with the Team Leader or Manager.
- Work Collaboratively with the OOHC Team
- Ensure respectful Communication.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Maintain professional relationships at all times
- Follow appropriate reporting lines
- High integrity in all matters relating to the supervisor role
- Perform other duties as requested by manager

We are interested in people who have:

- A minimum of TAFE qualification Certificate III (or equivalent) in a welfare-related field or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge, understanding and some experience of working with families with complex needs.
- High conflict management and de-escalation skills
- Experience in working with of and ability to appropriately respond to the needs of people from all communities including Indigenous; Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD); and Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT).
- Astrong understanding of child protection and child development
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritise competing demands and meeting deadlines while working independently.
- Strong Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft 365 and Teams
- Possession of a current driver’s licence and Working with Children’s Check, Police Check and First Aid Certificate
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position (i.e., lifting children)
- Minimum 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccinations
- Fluency in a second relevant community language as well as English
- Experience with managing and supporting the complex needs of young people
- Experience in report writing and documenting observations
