The Venue
The Royal Oak Double Bay is an iconic and much-loved community cornerstone located in the heart of Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. This large venue features multiple bars including the vibrant Phil’s Rooftop Premium Gin Bar, spacious dining areas, a lively sports bar offering all major live events, and versatile indoor and outdoor function spaces. Known for its classic pub fare with a mix and match menu, weekly specials, and a menu inspired by cuisines from around the world, The Oak prides itself on quality meals and great hospitality. Whether you’re after casual dining, a cold drink during a big game, or a memorable event space for celebrations like birthdays, engagements, or corporate functions, The Royal Oak offers something for everyone and truly is Double Bay’s favourite local for over 150 years.

We have a Full-time Chef position available.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies.
• Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
• Collaborating with Managers, Dietitians, and kitchen staff to discuss food preparation and menu planning.
• Demonstrating cooking techniques and providing guidance on food preparation procedures.
• Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to a high standard.
• Ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety regulations.
• Selecting, training, and supervising kitchen staff.
• Managing food storage, including freezing and preservation where necessary.

What we are looking for in our candidates:
• Relevant Qualifications - Commercial Cookery.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Experience with coaching and mentoring junior staff.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Passion for excellent quality food, produce, and service.
• Reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to maintain kitchen procedures and WHS standards.
• Sound knowledge of food health & safety.
• Availability to work a mix of weekends & nights.
• Australian working rights.
• Ability to work Full-time - 38hrs/week.

Salary: $76,500 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
