**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
**About the position**

Associates perform a full range of professional support services to Commission Members. An
Associateship at the Commission is a unique opportunity to learn first hand about Australia’s workplace
relations system and is a unique opportunity to work closely with Commission Members.

**Duties**
- As an Associate and consistent with the Commission’s performance planning and management arrangements, flexibly undertake responsibilities associated with: the administration/operation of a Member’s chambers, using Commission information technology and communications facilities and systems, particulary the Case Management System (caseHQ).
- formal preparation and publication to the website of listed matters,

documents, orders and decisions as set out in Commission publilishing guides legal research in the field of labour law and workplace relations.
effective management of Commission hearings (online and in-person) including clerk of court functions, preparation of hearing rooms, and court books. general administrative/executive assistant duties including but not limited to networked diary controls, preparation and maintenance of Commission files, proofreading, travel bookings. record keeping in compliance with the legislative obligations and internal policy frameworks.
- provide relief associate support to other Members and otherwise assist the Tribunal Support branch as needed.
- Liaise, as required, with Commission Members and staff, workplace relations practitioners, employers, employees, employer and employee bodies (including their representatives and
officials), legal practitioners and other parties (including unrepresented parties).
- Travel with a Member when required.
- When not allocated to a specific Member, or in any other circumstances, as directed, assist other Associates or Commission staff with work to ensure achievement of national work standards and targets.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Director, Member Support, Assistant Director, Member Support and/or the Member Support Coordinators.
- Has strong administrative skills including excellent attention to detail; writing and proof
- reading
skills; and the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
- Can work flexibly and collaboratively with other staff, with an ability to contribute as a proactive, effective and reliable team member.
- Has highly effective information technology systems, a close familiarity with Microsoft products and the capacity to quickly attain proficiency in Commission systems and technologies including the ability to provide basic technical support.
- Has the capacity to undertake intensive training, quickly learn new tasks whilst demonstrating a high level of attention to detail.
- Can demonstrate an ability, or the capacity to develop skills, in researching, analysing and presenting findings on workplace relations matters.
- Has well-developed communications skills (both oral and written) and an ability to deal with people with professionalism and discretion.
- Has relevant tertiary qualifications and/or professional experience.
- Can demonstrate specialist knowledge of the workplace relations legislative frameworki ncluding the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth).

**About the area**

The Tribunal Support Branch provides specialist research, project management and administrative
support to Commission Members, the General Manager and the wider Commission. The branch is made up of the four teams:

- Member support
- Agreements
- Economic Analysis
- Pay Equity and Awards
