Working as the Consultant, you will rotate through General Medical Units and the Acute Medical Unit and Noarlunga Health Service at SALHN as well as specified units and sites both within and outside SALHN which are staffed by SAHLN.

In this role, you will show clinical leadership, through knowledge, skills, teamwork, mentoring and organisational skills in all aspects of the delivery of medical care of patients referred from the Emergency Department, other hospitals, or from the community.

Consultant Physicians are expected to participate in quality improvements, administration, teaching and research.

Consultant review of patients should occur as early as practical to confirm or establish a diagnosis and define clinical criteria for discharge and expected time of discharge. You will work together with the multidisciplinary team commence treatment.

The Acute Medical Unit provides rapid assessment of undifferentiated patients and is equipped to provide intermediate higher acuity clinical level care to patients. The Acute Medical Unit Consultant Medical staff may be a consultant physician or other suitably trained, credentialed and registered specialist.

All Consultants participate in remote call roster The General Physicians in charge of the General Medical Units at FMC care for patients who have an estimated admission of greater than 36-48 hours and those patients initially admitted to and subsequently referred from ICCU.

This is a term contract, with the possibility for extension including ongoing engagement, at the end of this period.
