- We are seeking an experienced Scientific Officer who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate, vibrant and engaged team who will be responsible for:
- Performing urine drug and alcohol, and oral fluid drug testing including all routine procedures associated with day to day running within the toxicology laboratory
- Operate and perform maintenance on laboratory instrumentation including immunoassay and LCMS.
- Compliance with records maintenance and recording of results in line with protocols
- Ensure GLP and laboratory conformance to AS/NZS 4308:2008 and AS/NZS 4760:2019
- Assist laboratory manager to ensure laboratory compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance Processes.
- Participate in staff training, method development, method validation, SOP and QAP reviews, and other tasks when required
- Maintaining all equipment and operating equipment in line with protocols
- Maintaining current scientific knowledge
- Participation in both routine and audit related Quality Assurance activities, participate in NATA assessments
- Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required
- Liaising with internal and/ or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessary

**About you**
- To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Chemistry, forensic science) or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills working in a toxicology/forensic/analytical laboratory or equivalent
- Experience working with immunoassay and mass spectrometry techniques is desirable
- Knowledge of current Australian standards applicable to toxicology is desirable
- Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
- Perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision
