**Your Opportunity**

As the Employee Relations Manager you will be responsible for leading the Industrial Relations and Remuneration & Benefits functions to deliver specialised services, provide strategic and operational advise supporting managers, staff and enabling functions, while managing a team of specialists within the function.

This exciting role will see you work within a team of SME’s who strive to deliver strong results for the organisation and will manage the IR and Remuneration and Benefits framework, ensuring fit for purpose, industry benchmarked roles, remuneration, policies and terms & conditions of employment in a complex environment governed by Mission Australia’s EBA, non-award roles and other modern awards where applicable.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

- Lead the day-to-day operations of the IR Business Partner and Remuneration & Benefits Teams
- Support the capability within the team and provide opportunities for career progression
- Establish, review and maintain Key Performance Indicators for the team that support MA’s Strategic Priorities and businesses requirements
- Ensure the policy and procedure framework supports business operations and is compliant with employment law
- Manage and advise on industrial instruments such as enterprise agreements, common law contracts, and modern awards
- Represent MA in discussions, negotiations and hearings with Unions, State and Federal based Tribunals and Commissions, the Fair Work Ombudsman and external legal/consulting firms
- Be the escalation point for complex matters and issues and respond to staff grievances as required
- Monitor the IR Partnering and Remuneration team budget and authorise team expenditure in accordance with Mission Australia policy and procedure
- Develop strong and collaborative working relationships with the People Leadership team, Payroll and other support functions across MA to ensure high quality and advice and support are provided

**Requirements for Success**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Industrial Relations or Employment Law
- Demonstrated experience in Employee Relations/Remuneration function in a large organisation, with not-for-profit experience being an advantage
- Advanced knowledge and understanding in interpreting Australian employment law including awards, enterprise agreements, legislation, and regulations
- Demonstrated experience in job evaluation methodology
- High level ability to influence, consult and negotiate with staff, managers and unions at all levels and deliver pragmatic solutions to problems
- Strong engagement skills including the ability to build and maintain relationships with staff and internal and external stakeholders
- Be a positive team leader who looks for ways to improve current work practices
