- The Practice Consultant is to: - Give professional advice on the delivery and development of services and behaviour support plans within the context of departmental policies and guidelines. - Provide professional advice and demonstrate leadership on policy that governs service provision. - In collaboration with organisations from across the service sector, develop and promote best practice approaches in supporting people with a disability and complex needs.We support reasonable adjustment requests in any stage of the assessment process to remove barriers and facilitate full participation in all aspects of employment for applicants. **Period of Appointment**:
ASAP for 6 months

Please note this selection process may be used to make additional appointments for similar roles within Service Tasmania throughout the **State**.

**Hours per fortnight**:
Up to 76 hours - flexible options available.

**Duties**:

- Act as an Authorised Officer in accordance with section 25(1) of the _Disability Services Act 2011._
- Undertake a range of practice, quality and service review activities, facilitating access to specialist knowledge as required.
- Provide information and education in relation to restrictive interventions and techniques that reduce the need to use restrictive practises.
- Provide specialist consultancy services on complex issues for carers, service providers and the wider community throughout the state.
- Provide practice leadership, offering specialist services and advice in relation to clients, working closely with other service providers.
- Provide advice on high priority and complex issues and write reports, briefs and correspondence containing informed comment and recommendations.
- The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer of any new criminal convictions and/or if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered. _
- Satisfactory completion of an appropriate course of study at a recognised tertiary institution.
- Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration.
- The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
- Conviction checks in the following areas:
- crimes of violence
- serious drug offences
- crimes involving dishonesty
- Identification check
- Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
