**The Role**
The APS 6 Capability Team Leader will require the knowledge and experience necessary to manage a diverse range of in-service capabilities including the Special Forces Block Scale. It will require a well-developed understanding Defence policy requirements, government decision-making, Special Operations Command’s mission, and Army’s sustainment processes.

Within the Capability Management Cell, this position will undertake specialist research and analysis, conduct assessments, perform procedural and clerical support work. The team will interpret and provide advice within the sustainment function based on legislation, policy and procedures to ensure Special Operations capabilities. This position has personnel management responsibilities; as such, you will be required to exercise your leadership and management skills in support of the sustainment of Special Operations capabilities.

You will work collaboratively as part of the broader Defence team and be expected to confidently and articulately represent the interests of Special Operations Command (SOCOMD) within the broader Defence environment. You will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development as well as identifying opportunities for on-the-job training.

**About our Team**
Special Operations Command has an opportunity for people to join an integrated team of APS, Military and Contracting staff. This diverse workforce uses Defence’s policies, procedures and resources to ensure the Command is able to provide ready and relevant forces to conduct special operations across the operational domain in a joint, combined or interagency environment, in support of Australia's national interests.

This role will support the management and sustainment of in-service capabilities enabling units to achieve directed tasks. Working as part of the Capability Management team this position will routinely engage with representatives from the nine Army Programs, the Directorate of Logistics Army and various delivery agencies to maintain the diverse capabilities employed by Special Operations Command.
- Be able to work in an operationally focused, high tempo organisation with the ability to independently prioritise, assign and evaluate workloads.
- Have, or demonstrate the ability to acquire, knowledge of the Army Block Scale system including the ability to navigate Defence’s logistics information systems.
- Coordinate the provision of advice and guidance to others on SOCOMD product sustainment and logistic activities and tasks.
- Communicate sustainment requirements through detailed written documents and oral presentations for higher delegate consideration.
- Be a clear and concise communicator with the ability to effectively engage and support executives, staff and external stakeholders at all levels, and represent the organisation at forums as required.
- Have demonstrated public service leadership skills, professionalism and probity.
