The Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD) at Old Parliament House is located inside a heritage-listed
building that was once home to Australia's Parliament (1927 to 1988).

through our rich online collection of stories, objects and resources.

**POSITION DETAILS**

This position plays a key role in our Learning senior leadership team and involves collaborating with others,
as well as supervising and training a high performing team of museum educators in a heritage building.

The Onsite and Outreach Learning Manager will lead a dynamic team of educators to develop and deliver
consistent, exemplary civics-based learning initiatives.

This role will specifically help develop and implement a strategic plan focused on increasing onsite school
visitation and expanding our outreach offerings to both local ACT schools and interstate. They will bring an
innovative approach, expert knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and practical understanding of
contemporary teaching practices. This role will build new stakeholder relationships, grow our program
offerings, including establishing a Learning Workshop space, enabling the Museum to meet its strategic
objectives and mission as a nationally recognised leader in civics education.

The Museum is open 364 days per year. This role involves interstate travel. It may also involve out of hours
and weekend work at times.

**DUTIES
Under the direction of the Head of Museum Experience, Learning and Operations the Learning
- Manager will be required to:
- Lead the Museum’s learning engagement initiatives to deliver high quality onsite and outreach learning

experiences for school audiences on time and within budget.
- Develop and implement a strategic learning plan, including ongoing evaluation of MoAD’s Learning

programs and products, continually refining and improving the Museum’s onsite and outreach

learning offerings to students and teachers.
- Provide leadership in the understanding of contemporary pedagogy in classrooms and museum

settings to meet the Museum’s civics and citizenship mission.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with relevant internal and external stake
- holders, including other national cultural agencies, education departments, project partners, civ
- ics education partners, teacher associations, schools and universities.
- Manage the team’s budget, procurement activities, business planning and reporting processes.
