**Position Description Unit Manager Marketing and Communications**

**Purpose**
The Unit Manager Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing and
implementing marketing and communications strategies with the aim of increasing civic
participation, improving the Council’s identity, brand and presence in the community and
strengthening two-way communication with internal partners and external stakeholders.
This is a specialist marketing role, and a key deliverable of the role will be to lead long term
marketing to elevate the City of Marion’s brand to the forefront of Local Government.
**Key Deliverables**
- Oversee implementation of the City of Marion brand and marketing strategy to
ensure a consistent and compelling narrative that increases civic and community
participation and strengthens communication between Council and its community.
- Provide strategic advice and marketing strategies and communications campaigns
- Develop and implement Council’s Digital Communications Strategy on website re
- design, social media, and direct marketing
- Implement a strategic, integrated and streamlined approach to Council
communications by ensuring key messages and Council decisions are appropriately
conveyed across all relevant platforms and aligned to overarching brand and
marketing strategies.
- In collaboration with business areas, lead the development and implementation of
marketing strategies and campaigns (both internal and external) to promote key
projects and initiatives.
- Oversee the development communications and marketing materials to support
marketing campaigns, consultations and engagements, and significant Council and
civic events.
- Manage the publication of key strategic and external documents including Annual
Report, Strategic Plan, and Council’s quarterly magazine City Limits.
- Report on progress on the implementation of marketing and communications
strategies, and performance against KPIs.
- Provide effective leadership to drive the performance and outputs of the Marketing
and Communications team and be accountable for budget, timelines and reporting.
- Establish initiatives, policies and procedures that deliver ongoing improvements in
service delivery and ensure consistency and accuracy across all channels.
- Undertake out of hours work and travel, which may include supporting at City of
Marion events and engagements.
- Other duties consistent with the position where required and/or requested by the
Divisional Manager and/or Executive from time to time.
