**About the Role**

The Head of Corporate Communications will lead a small team of dedicated communications specialists across public affairs, corporate media, government relations and employee communications to drive and deliver a corporate communications strategy and integrated agenda.

**Responsibilities**
- Work closely with HCF Group’s Executive team and Senior Leadership Team to provide specialist external communications advisory and support, managing reputational risks and issues.
- Act as an advocate for the HCF Group including as key spokesperson on issues and/or crises impacting the Group.
- Develop and implement a stakeholder engagement strategy to promote HCF’s strategic position to government, media, industry associations, key health/hospital groups.
- Protect the reputation of the Group through proactive positioning, risk-mitigation strategies and crisis and issues management communication strategies, playbooks and plans. Maintain procedures as a part of the broader Business Continuity Plan.
- Leverage and cultivate strategic relationships with senior journalists and key editors across Health, Insurance, Finance and general media to bolster visibility and reputation.
- Lead the development of key external positioning for the HCF Group, ensuring the Group’s whole of health proposition is translated into integrated corporate narratives and communication plans.
- Support the relevant teams within HCF to manage business-related reputational risks/issues
- Shape and amplify organisation-wide communications around HCF’s corporate narrative including HCF’s organisational purpose, values, 2025 Strategy and key business priorities.
- Lead the development of strategic communications that promote HCF’s Brand, people, leadership, products, and services, in an engaging and meaningful way.
- Be a trusted advisor to the CEO and work closely with the CEO Office to deliver focused, authentic communications around key business priorities, across a range of employee forums.
- Oversee and lead the delivery of an all employee HCF event that gains broad employee alignment around HCF’s purpose, strategic priorities and the roadmap ahead.
- In an increasingly digital and hybrid work environment, explore ways to keep employees connected and look at ways we can utilise data to drive internal communication decision-making and measurement, to ensure corporate narrative and strategic campaigns land with impact.
- Lead the development of strategy documents, summaries, calendars and relevant insights reporting of corporate media coverage for company-wide distribution.
- Co-develop key metrics to monitor and gauge media activities and major projects
- Deliver to shared performance objectives and SLAs to measure success, share learnings and best practice based on results

**About you**
- Extensive experience leading External Affairs and Employee Communications in a large, highly complex, consumer facing, heavily regulated organisation with demonstrated experience in developing and executing strategy.
- Extensive knowledge of the media landscape and ability to engage with key journalists across all channels and mediums.
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, marketing or related field required.
- Sophisticated understanding of the government and regulatory landscape and managing the impact of changes.
- Excellent negotiation, influencing and communication skills, with an ability to interact and build relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Experience managing sensitive issues in a highly public, complex and regulated business.
- Strong member focus and ability to influence and manage business needs to deliver the right outcomes for HCF.
- Effectively cope with change, shift gears comfortably and decide and act without having the total picture.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
- Proven ability to drive consensus and influence effectively across departments and divisions, able to instil confidence from stakeholders at all levels.
- Creative thinker and able to keep up with the demands of a 24/7 media cycle.
- Easily able to identify and distil story angles and potential media opportunities.
- Proactively engages with journalists and producers to foster trusted relationships and create potential media opportunities to promote the HCF Group brand, its’ people, product and services.
- Ability to work cross-functionally to create and gather all the pieces needed to tell a story.
- Passionate about the not-for-profit and healthcare sector and the opportunity to promote HCF’s contribution to improving health outcomes for its members and all Australians.
- Experience in insurance or health sector, and journalism or agency, highly regarded.
